5 tips to a Dynamite Lawn

In a recent meeting, Jos was asked what a regular Dynamite distributor could do to have a Dynamite lawn. Here is what he said…

1. Give your lawn a dose of Dynamite Humi-Zyme™ or Humi-Zyme™ Plus applied at 2 gallons of concentrate per 1,000 sq feet of lawn. That’s approximately 4 gallons total on an average American lawn. Apply it evenly with a watering can or try using an Ortho Dial-n-Spray spray set at 8 oz per gallon. You’ll have to refill it quite a few times, but it will spread the Humi-Zyme very evenly and get it working fast! Keep in mind that you will need to keep refilling the jar attachment until you have applied the full 4 gallons. Do this first application anytime in the spring, but the sooner the better.

2. Set your lawn mower blade up one notch down from the highest setting and use a mulching blade if possible. The blade of the grass is a solar panel; it is the tool the grass plant uses to make its energy, and if you cut your lawn too short you severely hamper your lawns ability to make food causing tremendous stress. Also, a taller grass plant shades the ground and crowds out weeds reducing the need to spray. The mulching blade chops up the grass clippings into small pieces and helps return them to the soil reducing nutrient loss in the soil under your lawn. Most people don’t ever think about the tremendous pressure we put on our soil in the average lawn. We are growing a single crop, we never rotate crops on the ground and we harvest once per week!

3. Pay attention to your water. Every lawn and soil type has different water requirements but in general aim for less frequent watering but for longer periods when you do water. In frequent deep soaks of the soil encourages deeper grass roots while at the same time helping to keep the soil surface dryer making your lawn less favorable to lawn fungus problems. For example, if you are currently watering every day for 10 minutes per station, try reducing your water to twice a week for 25 minutes per station and watch how it performs. In most cases your lawn will do much better on less water! Keep in mind you will need to increase the water as summer temps rise, but be quick to reduce the times again as fall temperatures return.

4. Do a mid-summer spray with Dynamite Prescription Treatment Hose-N-Go. It’s so easy! The sprayer comes with a pre-measured amount of Prescription Treatment. All you have to do is top the sprayer off with water, attach it to the hose and give everything in your yard a nice drink. We recommend that you do this spray in the evening as summer temperatures begin to cool down to maximize the absorption.

5. Put your lawn to bed in the late fall with another full dose of Humi-Zyme or Humi-Zyme Plus. This is the ideal time to feed your soil as it has all winter to work. Watch thatch build-up problems literally melt away as beneficial soil bacteria break down all the old grass and thatch and return those nutrients to the soil. Your lawn will stay greener longer and will be the first to pop come spring! In fact this fall application is so effective many folks don’t have to do any spring fertilization at all the following year!
