180 Testimonial—Barbara & Erin's Story

Barbara "After"
Mother and Daughter Team
In 2010 I read Dr. Peter D'Adamo's book, "Eat Right for your Blood Type." I decided to follow his program. I am type O+. I discovered that I am gluten intolerant and I knew that my thyroid function was "low-normal." I now read every label of every food I eat. I avoid gluten and corn in ALL forms. My diet is high in protein and I avoid foods that interfere with thyroid function. In addition to my Dynamite regimen; I make sure I get 4000/5000mgs of Vitamin D daily and extra kelp in the form of bladderwrack (for thyroid function). I lost 30 lbs. following the blood type diet and knew I needed to lose more. When I came to  Spring Conference this year and heard all the success stories about 180; I decided to try it.

Erin "After"

I also told my daughter, Erin about the products. She was very overweight and addicted to soda. She really wanted to lose weight but works two very physical jobs. She was using the sodas for the caffeine and sugar. She decided to try the 180 protocol. By using 180, Dynamite's supplements, and Mega Botanicals, she has stayed on the program and in the last 4 ½ months has lost 65lbs!
I have lost 30lbs since May as well and now weigh 135lbs. This is the least I have weighed in 20 years! I am now in "lock in.” Erin will stay on the Protocol for a while yet but we both now have the knowledge and tools to control our weight and thus our future. Thank You Dynamite!

180 Holiday Tips

With the Holidays in full swing, Christmas parties and goodies seem to be around every corner! Don't let this season de-rail all of the hard work you've done reaching your weight-loss and health goals on Dynamite's 180 program.
From planning ahead to starting new traditions,  here are some tips to help you stay on track and to inspire other ideas for a fun and healthy Holiday season.

1. Eat before you attend Christmas parties—If you are satisfied before you get there it will be a lot easier to turn down the cheese platter

2. Enlist an accountability partner—Having a friend who will hold you accountable is crucial especially during the holidays. Letting them know you're heading to a party and that you aren't going to cheat and ask them to follow up with you the next day to make sure you've stuck to the goal.

3. Food on the go—Running around Christmas shopping? Make sure to pack a protocol lunch, an apple or some Mega Botanicals to ensure you don't end up mid-shopping trip and starving! Planning ahead and having healthy food at your fingertips can help defeat the urge cheat because of a busy schedule.

4. Tea Time—Brewing a cup of herbal tea, especially spiced blends can help satisfy your hunger or sweet tooth and also helps you drink more water! There are some fun holiday tea blends such as Gingerbread Spice that almost taste like you're drinking a cookie.

5. Healthy Hostess—Hosting your own Holiday party can be a fun way to share the gift of health this season by preparing protocol friendly foods! Not only will this ensure you're staying on protocol yourself but it shows others delicious ways to eat healthy! Asian Lettuce Wraps are a great example of a tasty party appetizer/main dish.

6. Baking Party—Instead of baking towers of fudge and frosting cookies, start a new tradition of gifting an alternative to sweets such as Zucchini Chips with homemade salsa.

Looking for some extra incentive to lose weight this holiday season? Rally a team together and join Dynamite's Winter Weight Loss 180 Challenge! Details here

Hats Off to National Champion Karen Dearth—Her Dynamite Story

Meet Karen Dearth, US National Arabian and Half Arabian Champion
Interview by Erin Evarts, Dynamite's tonnage coordinator.*

Photo Compliments of Julie Daniel Adams

Karen competed in the National Arabian and Half-Arabian Championship Horse Show that was held October 19-27, 2012 at Expo Square in Tulsa, OK.

“This was the first time I have ever competed on Clarisse. We had this connection, this energy. It was her. I just guided her a little bit. What’s remarkable is I didn’t even begin riding her until the beginning of September. Clarisse is very special. She gave her all at that show and she deserved those red roses."Long time distributors Karen and Gary Dearth are no strangers to breeding and training winning horses. Their facility, Pine Ridge Arabians, sits on 10-acres at the north end of Corrales, NM. Gary’s father, Paul Dearth, started the business in 1979. Paul manages the farm, his wife runs the office and Gary trains the horses. They currently have about 55 – 60 horses at the facility, but there were over 100 horses on the property when Karen met Gary. She recently competed in the National Arabian & Half-Arabian Championship Horse Show in October at Expo Square in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Karen competed on several horses throughout the competition, but won with Clarisse.

Karen shared the remarkable story of how Clarisse would not be here had it not been for Gary making a critical decision a few years ago. Their stallion, and the sire of Clarisse, SJ Mikhail, broke his leg while lunging during an event. Gary transported the horse by trailer 8 hours to CU and was repeatedly told he would need to put the horse down. He refused. Clarisse holds a very special place in their hearts. Karen sat down with us and shared how Dynamite has so long been a part of her life.

Dynamite: It appears you competed in seven classes on different horses in this event. Was it your performance with Clarisse in the Arabian Western Pleasure AAOTR 36 – 54 class that won the championship?
Karen: Yes. I finished in the top 10 in four events and on three different horses but won with Clarisse.

Photo Compliments of Julie Daniel Adams

D: How many participants were in that class?
K: There were 28.

D: When did you get started with horses?

K: Oh gosh, I think my first word was horse. You know, maybe it was the rocking horse. My family didn’t have horses. I grew up in the Sarasota, FL area. My Dad was a doctor and my mother worked in the home. I had my first riding lesson at 4 years old. I got my first horse at 9, my first Arabian at 13 and another one at 16. When I went off to college I sold them. There was about 10 years where I didn’t have horses. I met Gary in 1988 and got back in the showing ring. I won my first Championship in 1994 on Cerisse, Clarisse’s mother. Everyone called Cerisse the “Western Pleasure Goddess.”

D: Do you show any other breed besides Arabians?

K: Just Arabians. We prefer Polish bred Arabians. They are more athletic.

D: What has been your most memorable moment with Arabian horses?

K: This was my most memorable moment!  I remember every step of that event. It was like Clarisse was on auto pilot. That is what everybody was saying. This was the first time I have ever competed on Clarisse. We had this connection, this energy. It was her. I just guided her a little bit. What’s remarkable is I didn’t even begin riding her until the beginning of September. Clarisse is very special. She gave her all at that show and she deserved those red roses.

D: How did you get started with Dynamite?

K: About 30 years ago, Gary bought a horse from Judy Sinner and then became one of Judy’s first sponsored downline.
Photo Compliments of Julie Daniel Adams

D: How do you feel Dynamite has made a difference in your horses? In you?
K: Clarisse is a 3rd generation Dynamite horse... Cerisse's mother was on it too! Their coats are beautiful and shiny. We give Free & Easy to them and ourselves. We can’t survive without Free & Easy. Depending on the hay we give either 2:1 or 1:1, Dyna Pro, and Release. We both use the Miracle Clay for our stomach.  At the show I had a little clear water bottle with my clay water in it. I just sipped on it throughout the day. I was so nervous. I wanted to make sure everything was ok. I also use 180. I have been on and off of it for 2 years. I needed to get a little off for the shirt I wore to the event. I lost 12 pounds in 3 weeks and I kept it off.

The winning doesn’t stop with Karen and Gary; in fact it runs in the family! Their 15 year old daughter, Kristin, has won four Youth National Arabian championships, along with eight reserve national championships. In 2011 she showed four horses and won one national championship and three reserve championships at the State Fairgrounds. Her favorite horse is a half-Arabian gelding named Amplifire, bred and trained at Pine Ridge Arabians.

*Erin grew up around horses and spent many weekends at cutting events. She rode western through high school and her family had quarter horses and now Andalusians. For years her Dad was very involved in NRCHA and trained with Ted Robinson, a world champion cow horse trainer in Ojai, CA.

Dynamite 180 Testimonial—Jennifer's Story

"Before" photo - compliments of Jennifer Judkins
"After" photo - compliments of Jennifer Judkins
I have been overweight my entire life, even as a kid. As an adult I believe I spent more time on diets than not. I would lose weight but then gain it right back in a frustrating cycle, which could not be healthy for my body. Even after adopting some truly healthy eating habits over the past decade like removing processed foods, wheat, processed dairy and sweets, I found myself over 200 pounds. My blood pressure was up as well as my cholesterol and my doctor wanted to put me on medications. I said no! I told her I would be back in a year 50 pounds lighter. She agreed to give me the chance.

I managed to drop 25 pounds on my own, fueled by the threat to my health, but I was losing steam and could feel my body wanting to put that weight back on. Around this time, other Dynamite distributors had been starting to talk about 180. But I was stuck in my own head about the very low calorie part of the diet and thought it had to be unhealthy. Then last year's summer challenge approached and I was encouraged by two of my Dynamite friends, Ashley Fawkes and Brenda Ladd, to form a team. I thought, “What do I have to lose?” So we scraped together some team members, and began in July 2011. We all stuck to the protocol very rigidly, taking DM Plus, Tri-Mins, and Premium Magnesium daily along with the 180. The results were astounding. Everyone on the team lost a minimum of 25 pounds during the challenge. One member lost over 50 pounds. And the great part is that our Facebook support group, which started with this small, 6 or 7 member team and has continued on serving as support for now over 100 people. I'm really proud of my original team, including my mom, who have all either maintained their weight loss or lost even more over the past year. It’s a true testament to the protocol. It really works...

Since the beginning of this year I have been trying to lose another 10 pounds. I had some success, but was having trouble locking in. I was feeling so good that the motivation piece was missing for me. I had seen my doctor and smiled smugly as she reported my blood pressure was normal and my cholesterol was down 60 points and normal as well. So I was cruising along easily maintaining the weight loss I had attained last year. The launch of the new 180 and Dyna-Lite is what got me going again and the fall challenge was just the leverage I needed to get to my new goal. I lost the 10 pounds in the first two weeks and am locked in now. I haven't been this size in my whole life, not even as a teenager.
