Dynamite Testimonial— Rattlesnake Bite Recovery

I always keep a Dynamite Topical Aid Kit on hand. One of my girlfriends who lived half a country away had bought one from me and on the day of this event, I was never more grateful that she did!

I got a message at work to call my friend Cat ASAP. Since she would never normally contact me at work this way I knew something was wrong and I called her. She'd been up in the mountains with her dogs on a hike and one of them found a big rattlesnake. These dogs are working dogs and aren't known for backing down, especially if there's a threat to their handler. Her dog Hannah got bit by the snake, and from her description I'd say the snake didn't pull any punches with the venom (not a dry bite). The others dispatched the snake. She was a couple of hours from the nearest emergency vet clinic.

Thankfully Cat isn't one to panic. She's a thinker. So she went to work keeping her dog calm and getting her to the car. She'd already cleaned the bite site with peroxide. She knew I had pulled my old German Shepherd out of a hole (vets wrote her off as being too old to survive) after she'd been bitten near the eye by an unidentified poisonous snake. My old dog made it and Cat needed to know what I'd done.

I had her clean with Solace, give it a few minutes, and then put the Miracle Clay on it. I told her, "Don't just dab it on the bite site, coat a large area around the bite site." I know this woman and her dogs very well and know they are on a natural diet and are extremely healthy and fit. In the beginning I told her to use her best judgment and to watch what was coming to surface on the clay. If it was getting dirty, clean it all off and go through the whole thing again. When my dog Dutch was bitten near the eye, I coated her whole head. For Hannah, I had her go 8 inches all the way around the bite site. I had her give Miracle Clay internally in broth made from green tripe. Cleaning the bite site and re-coating with Clay was done every half hour to an hour. When the swelling stopped as the clay drew deeper she changed it every 2 hours round the clock. In doing so, she also found, the next day, a 2nd bite site in the chest in a brindle streak of her fur. The swelling wasn't as bad. She'd read online that Benadryl could help with breathing issues so she used that as well.

This was continued until what she was seeing was this awful greenish color and finally black substance drawn out of her wound. I knew we were in the money once we saw that. Hannah is very well trained but for dogs who aren't, keep in mind that they're going to want to scratch as the drawing of the Clay must be itchy. Cat reported that Hannah acted like she had a bad headache for a few days. She was fed broth from green tripe which had been frozen and thawed. Later she boiled an organic chicken and fed her the broth from that. She continued with the clay until there was no swelling or heat at either bite sight and there were no longer odd colors being drawn from the tissue.

Surprisingly, within a couple of days, Cat was grousing that she was having a hard time getting Hannah to understand that she was not allowed to run around just yet. I was delighted. More over I'm forever grateful that Dynamite products were on hand to help Hannah survive two rattlesnake bites.

I would never advise someone not to seek treatment from a doctor or a vet but even in modern day America, some of us still go places that take hours to come back to civilization. I never go anywhere without my Dynamite Topical Aid Kit. It's small, it fits under the seat of any car and it could save a life.

Dynamite Testimonial—Gretyl's Story

Distributor Nancy Hall's father, Gene Hulse, and his faithful dog Gretyl
Following my dad’s passing in April 2012, his devoted dog Gretyl, a 9 yr. German Shorthair Pointer came to live with us. Gretyl has been on Showdown her entire life. She went everywhere with my Dad, even on the golf course. Many would always compliment him on her beautiful coat. When hospice came, Gretyl would jump onto the bed and lay right next to my dad. The night he passed she was so upset. I had brought some Relax with me on the plane. I gave Gretyl 10 sprays of Relax and she slept through the rest of the night. I continued to give it to her for the next several days including the day I drove back to southern California as she occupied my back seat.

As we turned onto the dirt gravel road leading to my house, her head picked up as she might have thought she was going on a hunting adventure. Upon her decent of the vehicle, she saw a lizard and a zillion rabbits in every direction.

Knowing that she was mourning like us, I wanted to keep as much the same as possible for a while until she adjusted to her new home. The Relax and the Dyna Pro were very helpful. Despite feeding her regular program, she had diarrhea every day. My Dad used to tell me how slow Gretyl had gotten, that she was a house dog now and showed lots of signs of arthritis and he was very worried that he might not out live her and who would care for her.

When I made the gradual switch to the Dynamite dog food the diarrhea remained. I added additional Showdown, Excel, Ester-C and a little Miracle Clay and it decreased to a soft stool. I found out that Gretyl had something called immune-mediated polyarthritis. It affected all of her joints and caused her to look lame on all fours. It was also the cause of the lack of appetite and the low grade fever she had every day.

When Dynamite introduced the Canine TNT I was amazed at how many things had changed for Gretyl. She eats all of her food, has plenty of energy and her stool is totally normal. She gets up and down almost normal. The only problem is coming off the couch you can see the arthritis. The daily fever has diminished. She drags my husband Dave all over our 5 acres sniffing in every hole. We are in the process of fencing our property so she can run.

Gretyl had slowed down because my Dad had slowed down. Here with us she has other dogs to play with and room to run and hunt. She transferred dependency to my husband Dave and plays like there is nothing holding her back. She can hardly wait until the fencing is completed and she can just run. I am grateful to God for blessing us with Gretyl and I am so grateful to Dynamite for the many wonderful products that keep our animals well and happy.

Dynamite Testimonial—Taz's Story

Taz is a 9 yr. old American Bull Dog that is my love. At 4 months of age he started showing signs of allergies-—by the time he was a year old I had nearly lost him twice. Veterinary solutions only added to the problem. I went to my upline Dynamite Director and friend Rowan Emrys, and we worked up a regimen of diet and supplements to help him. As the cold came, and the grass, weeds, etc. had dried up for the winter, Taz was a joy to work with and have with me 24/7. The older he got the margin of joy, happy dog, and happy relationship with me and the world got shorter. He had to wear a cone and boots on his feet for 4, and sometimes 5 months of the year, and though I was able to pull him through with the big bag of tools that I had it was not fun and very stressful for both of us. I was close to putting him down more than once in our time together.
Spring is always a time to gear-up and get all the supplements I need, get meat bought for him that is free-range, and get ready for the hard time called summer. When Rowan passed, Jan Scott began helping and supporting Taz and my journey. She called me after returning from the 2012 Dynamite Conference in Idaho saying she had talked to Dynamite COO, Jos Zamzow, about Taz’s issues and he suggested the new Canine TNT. He said it would be good for dogs that have severe allergies and the trials Dynamite had conducted were impressive. Jos graciously sent me a 3 day supply of the new top dressing to try. I muscled tested it and came up with the amount he could handle at each meal, a third of the packet. WOW, what a difference in my dog who was struggling to keep his food and supplements down. His digestive system was worn out dealing with all that he was taking to keep him going. I dropped the supplements out at the advice of Jos and did just the new Total Nutrition Top-dress and Dyna Pro. He was happy; his eyes were bright and not blood-red. His ears where not oozing gunk. He was a happy boy full of play and joy and very cooperative. Twenty-four hours after he was off of the top-dressing, he was back to being down and feeling awful. This is the earliest in the year that he has gotten so bad, so fast. I have used 3 bottles of Dyna Pro and a lot of homeopathies for allergies, sinus, immune, and digestive aid to keep our noses above water, and preventing feeling we were going to drown. I was so glad that Dynamite listened to the many dog owners’ prayers and got this amazing combo on the market. Way to Go Dynamite Specialty Products! Taz and I love you. I think our summer will be a lot better than what it was looking like, and that gives Taz and I a lot of joy.

Thank you. Donna and Taz

Dynamite Dogs, Tess & Gus are Having a BIG Winning Season!

We last checked in with Lavon Calzacorta and Dynamite sponsored sheepdogs Tess and Gus before their St. Patrick’s Day trial in Hepner, Oregon. Since then, Lavon, Tess, and Gus have had great success heading into the meat of the season. At the Big Willow trials in Payette, Idaho, Tess and Gus placed 1st and 2nd overall combined out of 75 dogs. In June, they traveled to Dayton, Washington for the Dirt Blowing Sheepdog Trials. Tess placed 4th out of 79 competitors, and both Tess and Gus have qualified for the national finals this year. We sat down with their handler, Lavon, to address how he manages these athletes as the temperature starts to rise and the competition really heats up. “I shorten their hours and train them later in the evening” he says, “they still do a 4-5 mile run every day, sometimes in the middle of the day.” Lavon also bumps up their daily Dyna Pro® dose, as well as offers Dyna Spark™ as free choice for all his dogs. He has also incorporated the all new Canine Total Nutritional Top-dress to their food. “Their coats are smooth, their eyes are bright, and they’re always running great!” Lavon boasts.
The month of July is a busy one for Tess and Lavon, as they will travel every weekend to the Northwest for a myriad of different trials. In August they will head to Lacamous Valley in Camas, WA, and in September will participate in the Soldier Hollow Classic in Heber Valley, Utah, as well as the National Championship. This team is truly Dynamite and we are thrilled for their success and wish them all the best!

Dynamite Testimonial- Lana's Canine TNT Story

In the summer of 2010, Lana, my 7-year-old German Shepherd, began to have major itching issues over her whole body which included intense licking of her feet and legs. My vet’s first thought was fleas, which I had been having trouble controlling with the usual treatments. Unless the fleas were actually present, I had refused to use any chemical preventatives. We resolved the flea situation as we approached winter but Lana was still dealing with the itching and licking.

Spring and summer of 2011 came and still Lana was battling with the intense itching. Lana was also eating dirt and other “unpleasantries” so I knew more was going on than just fleas. I tried a few more recommendations to no avail. At my wits end I finally asked for prednisone to see if that would stop the itching. The prednisone worked as long as she remained on it.
In late fall of 20ll, I bit the bullet and went to a veterinarian dermatologist. It was determined she had “allergies” which was treated with weekly injections. However, she still wasn’t getting any relief from the itching without still administering the prednisone.
After approximately 7 months of treating her with prednisone and my sanity in jeopardy, I called Dynamite for help. They were very excited about a new “gravy” product called Total Nutritional Top-dress that was being developed. Boy did my ears perk up! I thought, “Finally, maybe this is the answer to my prayers!” I asked to be a “guinea pig” and they kindly sent me a sample. On the third day of Lana getting the “gravy” I could tell things were changing. I was able to wean her off the prednisone within 10 days and she has not taken any since! Her coat is beautiful again, her energy is good, she has stopped eating dirt and feces, and the itching is almost totally gone.
When I look in her bright eyes now, I realize just how miserable she had been and sincerely believe this product saved her life!

Tess Wins 1st Place in Season Opener Sheepdog Trial

Champion sheepdog Tess, sponsored by Dynamite Specialty Products, is back home after winning first place in the season opener sheepdog trial in Hepner, Oregon.

The first official trial of the season featured dog handlers from all over the Northwest, including an array of award-winning dogs. Tess’ excellent start to the season among such impressive competition is testimony to the benefits of sound canine nutrition and prebiotics as well as good training and instinctive drive.

“This is a promising victory,” said Callie Novak, CEO of Dynamite Specialty Products, which sponsors Tess. “Whenever a sponsored dog does well in the season opener, it creates excitement in the field that carries the whole team through the up-coming trials.”

Tess’ handler, Lavon Calzacorta, believes that much of his dogs' success, in addition to their training, is due to their food and dietary supplements. All are designed to provide both mental and physical energy for sheepdog trials, in which dogs have to perform a variety of different tasks for their handlers.

“My dogs look good, feel great, and run well,” he said. “They work for 12 to 14 minutes at a time at full speed. You can tell that some competitors at sheepdog trials are exhausted when they come off the field. My dogs are still ready to go.” Tess uses Showdown Pro to support energy, coat health, stamina, focus, and recovery.

Calzacorta works with his dogs at his home outside of Boise, Idaho more than 15 hours a week. Training begins when they are 12 to 16 months old. Tess was bred at the Helsley Ranch in Caldwell, Idaho. Calzacorta noted that Dyna-Pro prebiotics for dogs is a constant ingredient in dog nutrition for Tess. Dyna-Pro uses a fermentation extract for the health of natural gut bacteria. It is primarily given to dogs and horses, but can be given to a variety of other species.

“Our slogan is that ‘It’s all about guts,’ and it is, both mentally and physically,” he added. “It takes guts for a dog to stare down an old, angry ewe that doesn’t want to move. The dog’s physical guts have to be working properly. If a dog doesn’t feel good, it won’t perform well. The gut is where it all starts. Dyna-Pro prebiotic improves gut health and gives dogs and horses an edge they can’t get with any other product.”

Tess’s next competition will be at the Big Willow trial in Payette, Idaho May 12-13th.

Dynamite Testimonial—Sophie's Christmas Dinner

Sophie’s Christmas Dinner

It was the perfect Norman Rockwell Christmas when the phone rings. The call you never want to get. It was Andy, our house sitter, calling because Sophie, a 15-pound Pug, had a Christmas dinner of who knows how many 1000-2000 mg chewable Rimadyl. She was throwing up and did not feel good. I told Andy I needed a minute to breathe but would call right back. Here is the recipe I came up with: I called the emergency vet to see what they recommended. In Sophie’s case it was IV fluids and observation. I elected to have Andy give 12-15 ml of Miracle Clay. If no further vomiting for 20 minutes induce vomiting with hydrogen peroxide until Sophie was vomiting bile. Re-administer 12-15 ml of Miracle Clay. All went well. Sophie calmed down and stopped vomiting. I arrived the next day and went to the vet for fluids and blood work. The blood work came back normal! To be on the safe side I gave 100 ml of fluids and a tablespoon of Miracle Clay for a week. Then we retested the blood work after two weeks - all was well.

I firmly believe the Miracle Clay and a little luck saved Sophie from a disaster. I wanted the clay to coat her esophagus and absorb the Rimadyl in her stomach. I thought that by having her vomit again until it was bile was really cleaning out her stomach. Then more clay to sooth the system. I do use the Rimadyl for my Lab but we have switched to the non-chewable.

Dynamite Testimonial—Dog Fans of Dynamite

All my animals are a huge fan of anything Dynamite! You should see the reaction when a box comes in, either they smell it or it has a special aura. They love the Canine TNT. They always eat fast but with this product on top it was at hyper speed. This is the most convenient and affordable way to get all the supplements I need to give them. Perfect for the pet sitters who help me. This way they can open one container and finish with Dyna Pro. Voila! The perfect product. Dynamite has done it again! Keep up the great creating.

Dynamite Testimonial—Border Collie Champions

Tess at 14 years old

My Border Collies are proof of the power of Dynamite products. Nan won four Open trials and Open Dog of the Year for the Washington Association for Stockdog Handlers in 2010. Rainey has won at least four ProNovice trials and Sava just won a ProNovice trial. My Dynamite dogs are winners and consistently top-placers. I see a huge difference in stamina, mental performance, and edge, and in their coats. Even my 14-year-old Tess still can clear a four-foot fence. All my dogs are on Showdown, Dyna Pro, and Super Premium. Tess is on Yucca and Free & Easy. Before Dynamite, they performed OK. Now on Dynamite, I see a huge difference!

Dynamite Testimonial—Dalmatians and Holidays

Tranquil™ is a lifesaver! New Year’s Eve and 4th of July used to be nightmares at my house, but not anymore. My dalmatian would literally tremble for hours while my hound and retriever would feed off her energy as well. None of them would go out to “do their business” before bedtime. It used to be so frustrating. Two doses of Tranquil—one with the evening meal and one about an hour before I think the fireworks are going to start—does the trick.

Dynamite Testimonial: Relief for Mike the Greyhound

Mike, my greyhound, had a painful corn on a paw pad and I used both Balm and Release, so I’m not sure which one, or if both, worked, but the corn is gone! My greyhound, Lincoln, who passed a few years ago, had corns on all of his feet and we tried all the recommended methods except Laser surgery and nothing worked. I wish I’d known about these products then. —Mary Lou Calo, Customer of Regan Golob, Gold Director, Idaho
